The best way to get traffic to your blog efficiently and quickly is undoubtedly Search Engine Optimization (SEO) . When you search for something on Google, chances are, that you’ll only click on the results on the first few pages and never click on the other page links. Have you ever wanted your website to be the highest ranking on Alexa, Google and all the Search Engines out there so that you can sit back, relax and watch your traffic statistics increase so rapidly every day? Here’s how to do it! Do note that Search Engine Optimization is definitely not easy and it will take some time to build up quality backlinks so that Search Engines list your site to get more views.
What are Keywords?
The absolute key to a successful Search Engine Optimization campaign are keywords. Keywords determine your ranking on search engines and are the most important part of getting your blog hitting the charts of Google. SEO Key-wording is split into 3 factors – Keyword Density, Keyword Frequency and Keyword Prominence.
Whenever someone types a particular phrase into the Google search-bar, Google automatically collates and arranges content in order. Usually the sites with the best Keyword Density, best Keyword Frequency, best Keyword Prominence and the most number of quality back-links will get listed on the first few pages which get more views while the rest of us bloggers remain hidden in the hundreds of other pages at the back of Google – even though we might have better content.
I’ll be providing a few tips on how to start a successful Keyword Optimization campaign.
Locating quality keywords on Google
You might be thinking, how do I find such keywords? Finding keywords has never been easier, simply go to the Google Adwords site and click on Keyword Tools. Visit AppleDaniel’s Youtube Video on “How To Use Google Keyword Tool for SEO” for more details on the Keyword Tool. I’m planning to make a video on SEO Key-Wording in the near future. You would want to select a keyword that doesn’t have many global monthly searches to reach out to a more targeted audience.
1. Keyword Density
Keyword Density refers to the ratio of keywords in your article as compared to the ratio of total words in your article and is usually counted in percentages. For example in a 100-word article if 3 of the words are keywords the keyword density is 3%. The preferred Keyword Density percentage varies over many different search engines.
I recommend having a 3% to 6% keyword density on one particular keyword in every one of your articles. Some people might think having a higher keyword density will be more beneficial for your Search Engine Optimization, but the best strategy for having successful Keyword Density is to make your article sound natural. If your keywords are too repetitive, it might sound too spammy and will give a bad impression to your readers.
There must be a balance between great content and successful SEO Key-Wording – otherwise you’ll screw up both your content and your SEO without realising it. You may use this Keyword Density Checker to help you optimize your site’s keyword density ratio.
2. Keyword Frequency
Keyword Frequency refers to the number of times your keyword appears in your web page.
The more times the particular keyword appears in your web page, the more relevance Google will give your page when someone types that particular keyword in the search bar – your web page will be more likely to appear on the first few pages.
Again, do not abuse the system and start destroying your own blog with your own spam bots of keywords – Being natural and having a genuine connection with your audience is the best strategy for effective communication. Having an actual writer which writes naturally always looks and sounds better.
3. Keyword Prominence
Keyword Prominence refers to the location of your keywords on the web page.
The key locations most bloggers add their important keywords are:
- <Title> Tag (Description on top of Internet Browsers)
- <H1,H2> Tags (Headlines + Subtitles or 1st paragraph)
Search Engine Optimization is literally a number’s game - The survival of the fittest. A game that these tips will help you play and win.
Follow these strategies, and start winning today.
