Social networking, the fastest growing form of marketing in the Modern Age. With billions of users on the top social networks every single day, marketing with the social web is the best solution for attracting audiences to your site. Lets look at an updated list of the users of Top Social Media up to July 2012:
- Facebook: 955 million users; more than 42 million pages and 9 million applications
- YouTube: 4 billion views per day
- Google+: 250 million registered users
- Skype: 250 million monthly connected user
- Twitter: 140 million users
- LinkedIn: 150 million users
These social media websites are extremely important, if you know anything about Search Engine Optimization, you will know that search engines such as Google or Yahoo ranks and lists your blog according to backlinks. Although the old saying goes “Quality over Quantity”, increasing your blog traffic through social networks requires both Quantity and Quality Forum Backlinks.
Social Networking is the fastest and easiest way to spread Forum Backlinks.
After all, it’s long been recognized that word of mouth is one of the best forms of advertising, and social network is just an online extension of that. I am going to provide a few tips for building blog traffic with social networking.
1. Social Bookmarking
What is social bookmarking? Social bookmarking is the practice of saving bookmarks to a public Web site and “tagging” them with keywords. Bookmarking, on the other hand, is the practice of saving the address of a Web site you wish to visit in the future on your computer. To create a collection of social bookmarks, you register with a social bookmarking site, which lets you store bookmarks, add tags of your choice, and designate individual bookmarks as public or private. Visitors to social bookmarking sites can search for resources by keyword, person, or popularity and see the public bookmarks, tags, and classification schemes that registered users have created and saved.
Social bookmarking just started at the beginning of the 21st century. When sites like delicious, Simpy and Furl started around 2003 -2004. Since then, social bookmarking sites have become amazingly viral, opening new doorways to billions around the world; Giving users the opportunity to express different perspectives on information informally and genuinely to create new communities of users on the Social Web today. Online Forums also started during the period of 2003-2004 when Social Media Advertising started. Create a profile now and start posting to socialize with already established audiences, some sites are Warrior Forums, Facebook and DigitalPoint.
2. Making social sharing buttons visible
Making the social sharing button visible is a no-brainer if you want to get more traffic to your site. Instead of forcing people, making the sharing links obvious is a much better option. For instance, WordPress bloggers can use a social sharing plug-in that will allow the buttons to scroll up and down the page as people scroll through it.
3. Social Call To Action
I recently read a post on increasing blog traffic on CopyBlogger, the website of one of my favourite bloggers Brian Clark and found something astounding. The most powerful evidence of the power of“Social Calls to Action” is shown in the graph below. Just a simple “Please Re-tweet” will make your twitter post much more likely to be re-tweeted and increasing the chances of reaching larger audiences.
In the case of the longer “please retweet” the tweets were four times more likely to be shared by followers. Not “Please RT” or “RT” but specifically “Please re-tweet”, which greatly boosts search engine optimization on your blog.
Other calls to action include:
- Check out…
- Follow this person
- Please vote….
- Questions eg. What do you think of?
Don’t assume your readers know that they have to re-tweet, ask them!
This brings us to our next one of the commandments of blogging, “Don’t assume your readers know that they have to re-tweet, ask them!”. This commandment is definitely true, many people are afraid of asking or do not know how to ask their readers how to share the content through social networking sites. Yet almost 70% of all Re-Tweets contain a link to the post, and could rapidly spread to larger audiences in a very short period of time. This is great news for marketers, proving that re-tweeting is a great way to spread your content around.
So one tactic to increasing your ReTweetability could be to message or otherwise persuade other users to Re Tweet your content for you, in order to stimulate further organic Re-tweeting. This can be especially powerful if you can get well known users to share your content, as they’ll then be lending their authority and reach to your message as well as your calls to action. It could be as simple as
“Check out my blog @ moneyfastneasy.wordpress.com”! You might want to check out CopyBlogger for more information on “Social Call To Action”.
4. Tap influencers in social content
Over the past few days I have been actively posting threads and comments on online forums like Warrior, Digital Point and WickedFire. Your social sharing numbers can get a jolt of life when a social media thought leader shares your content. They can even crash your servers!
But how do you get their attention and stand out from the crowd? There are thousands of threads and posts created by the thousands of people on Internet Marketing forums and popular blogs. You have to build a relationship with them in order to get your content shared by them on Facebook or Twitter. After all…
People love being recognized for their dedication and hard work.
These are some tips on how to gain attention of these influencers:
- Forum Marketing
- Always link to them
My favourite personally is Ego-Baiting, it’s a simple and fast way to get traffic to your blog if you get lucky and do it correctly. Ego-Baiting is basically writing a top list of great bloggers in your particular niche, and when your readers and fans come to your site to read your content, they’ll have a strong impression on which blogs they must check out. Be sure to add some links to your top list! For example, I wrote a top list on my blog titled
This article got the approval of Pat Flynn, author of SmartPassiveIncome.com , and naturally curious readers of his blog will visit his Facebook page and click on the backlink to my site, increasing overall blog traffic.
There are also other strategies like Forum Marketing, on online forums – My favourites are Warrior,Digital Point and Wickedfire. I probably have said this strategy a couple of times in my other posts but I would like to emphasize it once more. If you look around the Internet, you would probably notice many people posting hyperlinks to their websites on YouTube videos which would irritate us so often with spam on the video’s comments. In a real world example, for instance, spamming somebody’s e-mail inbox with flood mails of links to their website just isn’t going to cut it. Spam would just make people annoyed and drastically reduces the chance of them visiting your site. However, if you read an interesting article and you see someone post a sophisticated comment with professionalism, you would take their advice as you trust them more.
For example, Alexa Smith, a regular and respected poster on the Warrior Forums. She provides solutions to countless peoples’ problems every single day and has a renown reputation among the Warriors! If she posts a link to her blog or writes a good comment on a site, chances are that hundreds of people will visit the site! Interviewing Alexa Smith or Pat Flynn will most likely bring a ton of visitors to your site as they will tweet or post messages on Facebook approving your work to attract larger audiences.
Increasing the number of shares your content gets across the Social Web is literally a numbers game – The survival of the fittest. A game that these tips will help you play and win.
When you start winning that game a number of things will happen…you’ll get more traffic, more attention and higher rankings in the search engines…which will be a nice reward for all of your hard work.
Follow these strategies, and over time you’ll win.
